LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A 12-inch water main ruptured Wednesday in the Westmont area of Los Angeles, gushing water onto local streets and creating an large sinkhole.
The 25-foot-geyser was reported just after 10 a.m. at Western Avenue south of Century Boulevard.
Crews shut off the flow of water, and worked to repair the main – which was built in 1948 – and the street.
Officials closed Western Avenue between Century Boulevard and 103rd Street as a precaution.
