LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A sheared fire hydrant in West Los Angeles and a broken water main in  Lake Balboa Thursday created headaches for commuters.

The sheared hydrant in West Los Angeles — at La Grange Avenue and Bundy Drive — happened Thursday afternoon, but no street closures were reported.

Standing water was visible in the area. Someone could also be seen trying to unclog a drain.

The water slowed rush hour traffic but no customers were affected.

Authorities also said the water didn’t damage the street.

In Lake Balboa, another water main break caused dozens of customers to lose water service.

An 8-inch pipe ruptured and flooded the intersection of Sherman Way and Woodley Avenue Thursday afternoon.

The DWP said the hoped to have service restored to customers by 11 p.m. Thursday.

Street repairs were expected to be completed some time Friday.
