WOODLAND HILLS (CBSLA.com) — A busy stretch of road was shut down Saturday after a water main break opened up a hole and caused street flooding, authorities said.

One lane reopened around 8 p.m. and crews worked to repair a hole in the street created as a result of the break.

Crews worked throughout the day to repair the break in the 8-inch main, which forced the closure of southbound Topanga Canyon Blvd. between Victory Blvd. and Oxnard St.

The break was first reported at 9:40 a.m. at 6325 Topanga Canyon Boulevard, near several major malls and businesses.

Three commercial customers lost service, according to Terry Schneider of the Department of Water and Power.

Service was restored to all customers around 5 p.m.
